The best time to save a thought is usually while you are doing something else: reading an article, finishing a call, walking between meetings. If capture means opening a blank app and rebuilding the context from scratch, the thought often does not make it.
Send When meets you where you already are — the Share Sheet, Siri, Shortcuts, and voice — so a note can be scheduled without a ceremony.
Share Sheet: keep what you found
When Safari, Photos, or another app hands you something worth keeping, the Share Sheet can send it into Send When. A link, a paragraph, a photo, a file — whatever you shared becomes the start of a note. Then you say when it should return, and choose push, email, or both.
That turns “I’ll remember this later” into a concrete delayed message with a delivery time, instead of another tab you never reopen.
Siri & Shortcuts: hands-busy capture
Sometimes your hands are full. A Siri phrase or a Shortcut can open the path into a new note so you can speak or drop in what you need. The aim is the same as typing: get the content in, attach a when, and let timed delivery handle the rest.
You do not need an elaborate automation library. Even one Shortcut that lands you in compose is enough for the moments when unlocking the phone and hunting for an icon would break the thought.
Voice notes that arrive later
Not every idea wants to be typed. A voice note can hold tone and detail that a terse text line would flatten — a rehearsal of what you want to say tomorrow, a quick field observation, a personal message for a future morning. Schedule it like any other note; when the time comes, it finds you on the channel you chose.
- Share from another app when the content already exists.
- Use Siri or Shortcuts when you cannot stop to type.
- Record voice when speaking is faster than writing.
From capture to return
Capture is only half the loop. The other half is deciding when the note should come back — often in plain language — and whether it should arrive as a push, an email to yourself, or both. Together, that is a small system for ideas that are not ready yet but should not be lost.
If you are building the habit of writing ahead, start with notes to your future self. Delivery options are covered in delayed messages by push and email.

Ready when you are. Write the note, say when, and leave the rest to timed delivery.
